Position Vacancy Announcement
Florida A&M University's Facilities, Planning, Construction and Safety/Plant Operations & Maintenance/Building Maintenance Department is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Electrician vacancy.
Responsibilities
Install, repair, or replace various incandescent, high intensity discharge and fluorescent light fixtures; Replace incandescent, high intensity discharge and fluorescent lamps, light switches, receptacles, circuit breakers, fuses and other electrical equipment, to include area security lights; Inspect, install and repair electrical circuits in buildings and on electrical equipment according to related standards and codes; Make repairs to high voltage electrical distribution systems on campus; Repair or replace electric motors and motor starters, and contactors; Repair electrical appliances such as, stoves, heaters, washers, dryers, and dishwashers; and Set up power for special functions.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and three years of related experience; Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Recommended Competencies
Knowledge of the procedures and methods for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems fixtures;
Knowledge of the procedures and methods used in building, mechanical or equipment maintenance and/or operation;
Skilled in using testing equipment such as volt-ammeters, voltage testers, multimeters & other specialized tools & equipment;
Ability to lift, carry, push & pull a variety of electrical materials such as cables, conduits, fixtures & equipment;
Ability to bend, kneel, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds;
Ability to communicate effectively;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
Ability to climb ladders, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to electrical wiring; and,
Ability to work inside & outdoors.
Anticipated Salary Range
The salary range is between $33,000 to $36,000 commensurate with relevant experience.
Licenses and Certifications
Must Maintain a Valid Driver's License.
Pay Plan
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. Schedule
Regular Scheduled Work Hours are 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday Through Friday.
