Job SummaryThe Customs Entry Specialist role requires advanced expertise in entry writing, classification using the Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS), and participation in clearances with government agencies. The role also involves a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, including the Code of Regulations and Customs regulations, to facilitate import processes efficiently.
Responsibilities
Prepare customs entries and manage freight forwarding to specified locations, coordinating with both international and domestic carriers, overseas offices, and importers.
Oversee the customs entry clearance process, ensuring timely follow-ups on all entries prepared.
Identify and communicate documentation discrepancies to clients and supervisors for resolution.
Coordinate and arrange freight deliveries to designated destinations.
Address financial and accounting reconciliation issues, including currency exchange discrepancies.
Scan and upload entries into the imaging system, meeting specified time and accuracy requirements.
Generate reports, presentations, and data analyses using various software applications.
Resolve documentation discrepancies by troubleshooting and maintaining effective communication with clients and foreign offices.
Build and maintain strong client relationships to support business objectives.
Participate in a rotating weekend and holiday schedule based on operational needs.
Conduct internal audits and report findings to management to enhance process improvements.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in customs brokerage operations.
Basic knowledge of customs regulations, government agency clearances, and compliance requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Customs Broker License preferred.
Strong attention to detail with accurate and quick data entry skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must reside within 50 miles of Aiken, SC.
Experience
At least 2 years of experience in a Customs Broker role or similar position, with practical knowledge of customs operations and compliance.
Skills
Proficiency in entry writing and classification according to HTS.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to create presentations and reports.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and issue resolution.
