Job title: Professor of Law Company: Purdue University Job description : Job Summary: Concord Law School at Purdue University Global, soon to be known as Purdue Global Law School, is the nation's first fully online law school, established in 1998. We are part of the respected Purdue University system and accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California. A Professor of Law is primarily responsible for the online teaching of classes at the Law School. This role is also instrumental in the law school and the University's shared governance and community and in achieving the law school's institutional mission and objectives. ?In addition to teaching traditional topics, this position would lead the upper-level probation course, the pre-admission program and participate in the ASP webinars. This full-time Professor of Law role will focus on doctrinal topics, especially Torts, teaching academic support and skills classes, and otherwise providing academic support. What to expect in this role: Conducting classes at scheduled times using Purdue Global's technology platforms Student mentoring and advising, to include academic phone or video conferences, as needed Timely grading and providing of feedback on assignments, including, but not limited to, discussion boards, assignments, projects, papers, interim essays, midterms and final examinations Answering student emails and phone calls in accord with Concord standards and policies Assisting in curriculum maintenance and development, and continuous participation in applied scholarship activities in law, teaching, and related fields Preparing midterm and/or final examinations, and model answers, for inclusion in the school's essay pool Maintain awareness of regulatory exams and support the law school's efforts to improve performance Participating in on-going training, reflection, and study to improve teaching Regular attendance upon invitation to faculty meetings, conference/video calls and in-person faculty gatherings Participation in faculty governance and compliance with law school and University policies and procedures Experience: Doctoral Degree (JD) in Law Four to seven years experience and/or training either academic or practice experience in the field to be taught, or the equivalent. Admitted to any U.S. bar. Currently in good standing (active or inactive) in all jurisdictions in which the Professor has applied or is or was admitted to practice law, with no significant history of bar discipline (conduct-related suspension or disbarment are disqualifying events.) Preferred Qualifications: Academic or practice experience in the field to be taught, or the equivalent. Prior teaching experience, preferably at the law school level in the field to be taught, or in a closely related field, using technology. Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor an academically and culturally diverse student population. Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and learn new skills, software and processes rapidly. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a self starter, to a very high degree of quality and professionalism. Demonstrated ability to work within, and support, a school's collegial culture, and to interact with others in a consistently honest, warm, courteous and respectful manner. Possess and maintain computers and other technology that meets the minimum requirements of the school; reliable Internet access. Significant experience with standard office applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and applications specific to the Internet such as browsers, Flash, and audio recording software. Experience or willingness to promptly learn effectively using the Google suite, especially Google Drive, Documents, and Calendar.
