Bookkeeper (Full-Time, Remote Possible - US-Based)

We are a growing architectural lighting design firm based in New York City, specializing in innovative and high-quality lighting design solutions. As a small team (5-10 people), we value collaboration, precision, and efficiency in all aspects of our work. We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Finance Manager to join our team full-time. This role will primarily focus on financial management (80%), with some light administrative duties (20%). Experience with BQE Core is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
Finance & Bookkeeping (80%)
? Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts payable and receivable.
? Prepare and issue invoices, including posting to third-party payment portals such as Coupa.
? Prepare and analyze financial reports.
? Oversee cash flow management and assist in budgeting and forecasting.
? Process payroll and manage employee expense reimbursements.
? Ensure sales tax compliance in coordination with external accountants.
? Provide required information for external accountants for their use in preparing tax returns.
? Maintain financial records in BQE Core software.
Administrative Support (20%)
? Management of outside vendors such as payroll and benefits, landlord, phones, etc.
? Obtaining and renewing certificates of insurance for clients.
? Support HR-related administrative tasks, such as benefits coordination and onboarding paperwork.
? Help coordinate office-related operations, including software subscriptions and insurance renewals.
Qualifications
? Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Finance Manager, or similar role in a small professional services firm, or suitable educational background and training.
? Proficiency in BQE Core (highly preferred) or other project-based accounting software.
? Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, GAAP, and financial reporting.
? Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance.
? Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
? Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a small team environment.
? Experience in an architecture, design, or consulting firm is a plus.
? Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
Location & Work Environment
? This is a full-time position based in New York City.
? We are open to remote candidates within the US, with a preference for candidates located closer to New York City.
Compensation & Benefits
? Salary between $75,000 and $95,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
