Payroll Specialist

Job Description:

This position, part of the Payroll and Tax Services department within the CFO Division, is responsible for providing customer service for questions about paychecks and manual adjustments. This position also performs various query analysis to review for accurate payroll and requires knowledge of University regulations and Federal tax laws. Essential functions of this job listed below:
? Provides support and customer service to University departments through a comprehensive understanding of Time & Labor processes and regulations.
? Requires an understanding of the payroll calendar, processes affecting employees' pay, benefit plans including leave plans, University leave policies, use of Time Reporting Codes, and an understanding of the University's policies for Regular Compensation, Special Compensation and Overtime Compensation.
? Understands payroll tax withholding, the FICA Alternative Plan, the Student FICA Exemption, before tax deductions, after tax deductions and deferred tax deductions.
? Prepares and processes time and labor adjustments both on the biweekly payroll and off-cycle calendar runs.
? Run, analyze, review, and follow up on results of various queries of payroll data to provide timely corrections as needed and ensure accuracy of each biweekly pay cycle.

Expected Salary:

$45,000.00 - $50,000.00 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Payroll systems.

Ability to work and maintain effective working relationships with others; to understand, interpret, and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; to effectively communicate in writing and orally; to complete work according to scheduled deadlines; to work with limited supervision; to utilize problem solving techniques and to work independently.
