Under direct supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in the repair, welding, and fabrication on automotive and heavy equipment vehicles, equipment and machinery; assists mechanics with heavy and light equipment and vehicle repairs; performs other work as assigned.(Illustrative Only)
? Assists in the repair of broken or cracked metal parts by welding
? Assists in the fabrication of fixtures, special tools, parts for equipment, structural steel, truck bodies and similar equipment
? Assists in creating a variety of specialized metal parts and equipment
? Maintains inventory of materials and supplies
? Cleans, maintains, and services required equipment and machinery
? Assists in the performance of structural, gas and electric welding including gas tungsten and plasma cutting; performs field welding
? Assists level II through level IV mechanics in completing equipment maintenance and repairs on trucks, heavy road maintenance equipment and other types of specialized vehicles and equipment.
? Performs a variety of routine repair and maintenance tasks on both light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
Essential functions of this position include but not limited to: driving; standing walking; sitting; crouching; stooping; kneeling; twisting; reaching; lifting and carrying (up to 60lbs.); climbing on vehicle to work; working with and around other co-workers; vision acuity (near) for wiring; communicating with supervisors and co-workers; finger dexterity for component assembly and operation of tools. Environmental conditions include: noise from grinders, tools, compressor, etc; hazards (mechanical) from wheel mounting, truck parts, etc; atmospheric conditions (dust) from dirt and cinders.One year of experience in welding/fabrication, vehicle or heavy equipment repair, OR any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
The ideal Candidate has at least one year of experience in welding, fabrication, or vehicle/heavy equipment repair, with preferred technical education in welding. They should possess strong mechanical skills, knowledge of welding techniques, and proficiency in using tools and diagnostic equipment while being physically capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and working in various weather conditions. A valid Arizona driver?s license is required, alongside strong teamwork, time management, and a commitment to safety.
Preferred Qualifications: Technical education in welding through high school or a trade school, along with hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, or vehicle/heavy equipment repair. Familiarity with a variety of welding techniques, tools, and diagnostic equipment. Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to workplace safety.
Must provide own hand tools.
