Grounds Maintenance Worker III

The Grounds Maintenance III position performs specialized installation, maintenance and repair work related to their assigned area of responsibility. This includes performing inspections and preventative maintenance of a variety of equipment, facilities, grounds, parks, and other items. They identify issues and initiates the repair or replacement of items. Inspecting and monitoring conditions of assigned sports fields to determine compliance with prescribed standards established by the department. The position will be responsible for water management and irrigation best practices within assigned areas. This position will also train and oversee subordinate staff on landscape, field and irrigation maintenance. They also maintain and/or clean park facilities, courts, structures, fields, trails, grounds and equipment.
Additional responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

? Hold supervisory responsibilities over Ground Maintenance Worker I & II's, such as time card approvals and performance review of subordinates.
? Train and oversee subordinate staff on landscape, field and irrigation maintenance.

The primary function of this position is to perform basic manual labor and general landscaping associated with the maintenance of grounds, parks, athletic fields and irrigation systems including mowing, weed control, and removal, turf maintenance, shrub and tree maintenance. Practical experience maintaining commercial irrigation systems for areas such as sports fields, parks, and golf courses is desirable. Ideal candidates will be safety-conscience and manage time wisely. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the interpersonal and communication skills needed to build positive relationships with customers and co-workers, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
