Florida A&M University's College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Grant Assistant, research program services vacancy.

Responsibilities

The incumbent in this position serves as liaison between FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health (CoPPS,IPH), Office of Research Administration (ORA), and the University central administration, federal agencies, faculty, research associates, students, staff as well as the general public which includes local, state, national and international entities, regarding contracts and grants. The incumbent reports to the Assistant Director, Research and Academic Support Services, and works directly with the Dean, Principle Investigators, Program Directors, Co-Program Director and Research Coordinators.

Coordinates the day-to-day grant management activities, manages newly awarded and renewed contracts and grants, develops and submits the Research Center in Minority Institution (RCMI) renewal and progress report and prepares other progress reports for CoPPS, IPH awarded contracts and grants as required by state and federal funding agencies relative the grants within the College, and revises the budgets according to funding agency guidelines for submission of the Office of Sponsored Programs, Division of Research; Assists faculty with developing contracts and grants, budget proposals and justifications as needed with the CoPPS, IPH; Assists with collecting and compiling data for proposal development and submission, i.e. grant contracts and grant submissions, awards, publications and presentation submission received; Assists with managing awarded contracts and grants budgets, including reconciling budgets, generating financial queries/report for principal investigators,enter prepare consortium agreements, , and consultant services agreements; and assists with routing proposals through appropriate oversight committees, i.e., editor, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Institutions Review Board, Environmental Health and Safety Officer, Biohazard Committees and Sponsored Research in the coordination of submission to funding agency.

Assists with establishing policies and procedures for effective budget control and monitoring grant expenditures; Assists faculty and staff members by providing technical assistance on matters related to the overall research infrastructure of the College, which requires confidentiality and assist with major CoPPS, IPH projects, i.e., Self-Study Reports for Accreditation, Federal Agencies Site Visits and Planning reports, etc.; Employs measures of accountability for compliance with University Regulations and Internal Operating Procedures; and performs other related duties as assigned, i.e. requisition/travel authorizations.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalency and four years of related experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Recommended Competencies

Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment;

Knowledge of applicable computer software and basic computer functions;

Knowledge of federal, state, and local agencies guidelines;

Knowledge of writing, preparing reports, grant and budget development;

Knowledge of administrative and office procedures;

Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe, PeopleSoft/ERP Financial and Electronic Submission of Proposals to various funding agencies;

Knowledge of University, federal, state grant management and implementation of policies and procedures;

Knowledge of data analysis techniques and methodology;

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; and,

Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of pre and post grant awards;

Grants and budget development; and

Proficient in Excel.

Anticipated Salary Range

Salary is negotiable.

Pay Plan

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.

Conditions of Employment
