This full-time Museum Specialist works directly with the Visitor Engagement Coordinator to help implement educational programming and museum outreach. The Museum Specialist will give tours, host events, work with interns and volunteers, assist with marketing and social media content, and contribute to the promotion of Museum programs.
Responsibilities
? Implementing in-gallery education content and programming for various audiences including University students, K-12 students, seniors, and special needs groups.
? Helping coordinate and host public events focusing on the interpretation of Museum exhibitions, interactive learning, art demonstrations, and guest artist presentations.
? Scheduling tours and hosting tour groups.
? Participating in professional development through training, workshops, and other museum education learning opportunities.
? Collecting data assessing the effectiveness of educational programming and Museum attendance.
? Developing and maintaining professional relationships with representatives of regional K-12 institutions, senior learning programs, museums, and other community-based art and cultural studies centers.
? Generating social media content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn on a weekly basis in conversation with the Visitor Engagement Coordinator.
? Managing the front desk and scheduling front desk coverage.
? Assisting with outreach including distributing promotional assets and tabling on behalf of the Museum on and off campus.
Qualifications
? High school diploma or equivalent.
? Strong public speaking skills.
? Strong organization and time management skills.
? Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
? Enjoy working collaboratively on a team.
? Ability to work well with various types of people of different ages.
? A demonstrated interest in museums and art education.
Preferred Qualifications
? Bachelor?s degree in Art, Art Education, Art History, Education, or a related field.
? Experience working in art gallery or museum settings.
? Experience developing interpretive information, educational programming, and learning tools in art gallery or museum settings.
? Experience collecting data assessing the effectiveness of educational programming.
? Skilled in word processing, graphic design, and photo-editing applications (i.e., Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, etc.)
? Skilled in social media applications (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
