The Environmental Administrator position leads the Solid Waste Program and Permitting Section for the Permitting and Compliance Assistance Program of the Division of Waste Management located in Tallahassee, Florida. This position is responsible for the implementation of the state?s Solid Waste program and works with the Department?s District Offices, Federal officials, and the regulated community. The ideal candidate will possess discipline specific knowledge, leadership and technical skills to promote the sustainability, implementation and efficiency of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations related to solid waste management. This position leads and supervises eleven team members.
Responsibilities
? Communicate with, motivate, train, and evaluate employees, and plan and direct employees? work.
,
? Serve as a cost center administrator and supervise staff responsible for the implementation of the state's Solid Waste program.
,
? Manage and develop the Solid Waste program, including oversight of solid waste permitting for Class I landfills and other solid waste facilities.
,
? Provide technical and engineering support to the Department's District Offices.
,
? Act as Department liaison with the regulated community for permitting and enforcement cases.
,
? Work with Federal officials to ensure Florida's solid waste program is approved by EPA.
,
? Assist District offices in developing and negotiating agreements to delegate portions of the Solid Waste program to local governments.

? Process requests for Variances and Alternate Procedures related to the Solid Waste program.
,
? Prepare and review legislation and assist in presentation to legislative committees.
,
? Interact with the regulated community and provide technical assistance as needed.

? Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
? Knowledge of Florida?s solid waste management program rules and statutes.
,
? Knowledge of permitting, compliance and enforcement activities associated with solid waste facilities.
,
? Ability to supervise technical and administrative staff.
,
? Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
,
? Ability to work with public, government officials and co-workers.
,
? Valid Driver License.
,
? Travel is required.
