Essential Job Functions
? Responds to medical and other emergency and non-emergency calls
? Receives emergency and non-emergency calls from the communications center, drives the emergency vehicle to the call and/or hospital using the most expeditious route
? Utilizes all required safety measures when performing assigned job duties
? Performs pre-hospital emergency medical care and basic life support
? Assists the paramedic in providing emergency medical treatment and triage as necessary
? Assists in loading patient and provides transportation of patient to a medical facility
? Makes up stretcher and cleans inside of vehicle after each call
? Inspects vehicle daily, ensures that the vehicle is clean, fully equipped and in proper operating condition and in compliance with all state and local laws
? Prepares reports as required
? Assists in housekeeping and routine office work as required
? Performs other related duties as directed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
? Knowledge of current emergency medical treatment, and EMS guidelines
? Safely operate their assigned medical equipment
? Knowledge of basic life support emergency medical treatment
? Operate and maintain the ambulance unit according to their scope of practice and report any problems they are unable to personally resolve.
? Drive defensively and react quickly and efficiently as necessary
? Knowledge of defensive driving techniques, methods, and ability to execute such methods quickly and efficiently
? Recognize life-threatening situations and react according to their scope of practice
? Perform first aid and EMS functions in emergency and non-emergency situations as necessary and according to their scope of practice(including documentation)
Advanced Skills
Any EMT in paramedic class that produces documentation showing completion of IV therapy training is permitted to initiate an IV on patients if approved by the attending paramedic.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle and/or feel objects, tools, and controls, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste and smell.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Each crewmember must maintain their physical fitness throughout the year in order to meet the physical demands that may confront them while performing their duties. It will also serve them well in their overall health and wellbeing. A physical fitness test (PFT) will be administered to the employee on an annual basis. The test will be administered during the employee's date of hire anniversary month. The employee is required to pass the PFT with at the least a satisfactory rating.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, in outside weather conditions, and with hazards. Employees may potentially be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment could be high.
Minimum Qualifications
? High school diploma or equivalent
? Upon submission of application, proof of the following must be provided:
? Current State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate
? Current designation as a Basic Life Support provider
? A valid State of Florida driver's license
? Completion of a minimum certified 16-hour emergency driving course
? Successful applicants must meet all requirements for Drivers as listed in Florida Statutes 401.281
? While working for Century Ambulance Service, Inc., the EMT must have on his person at all times: Florida driver's license, EMT license, and BLS card.
