About the position

As a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and engaging environment for customers. Your primary responsibility will be to provide excellent customer service that is friendly, genuine, and professional, always prioritizing the needs of the customers. You will make the shopping experience interactive by sharing your knowledge of books, whether in person or over the phone, assisting customers in selecting new books or special gifts. Your passion for bookselling will shine through as you create enticing displays that are neat, tidy, and vibrant, ensuring that customers look forward to visiting the store. In this role, you will support the cluster structure and collaborate with your team to enhance the overall experience across all stores in the cluster. You will be responsible for executing bookstore basics, demonstrating a commitment to presentation, commerciality, and localization. Engaging with customers through key campaigns such as Our Monthly Picks and pre-orders will be essential, as you will hand-sell and foster conversations with every customer. Continuous education on books and the industry will be vital to provide customers with an exceptional shopping experience. You will also identify key titles and communicate with your store team to tailor the merchandise selection to reflect the community's interests. Maintaining a neat and tidy store, creating inviting displays, and assisting with events and community outreach will be part of your daily tasks. Additionally, you will protect company assets by adhering to processes that control shrink, expenses, and payroll. Your role will require physical activity, including prolonged standing, repetitive bending, lifting, and climbing, especially when working on the selling floor or in the caf? when needed.
