The Maclay School, a K-12 co-educational independent school in Tallahassee, FL, is seeking a candidate for the position of Athletics Communication Intern. Reporting to the communications director, this is a primarily remote role with some limited responsibilities on campus, to begin on or before July 1, 2025.

This is a paid internship averaging 15-25 hours per week. This position will require work that mirrors the athletic schedule, with some duties happening on nights and weekends. There are time periods where the fall, winter, and spring season overlap causing times of increased work, and there are portions of the year where the load is less.

Responsibilities
? Creating pre-season publicity: work directly with the coaching staff on previews and other pre-season information to ensure proper promotion of each sport. Including tryout dates/information and pre-season media requests.
? Maintain and enhance the athletics website. Promoting all athletics teams, emphasizing current news, scores, and feature material.
? Publishing and updating team schedules, rosters, and media on athletic department?s chosen channels.
? Work closely with the communications team to help design and implement

a social media plan to promote the athletic department and its student-athletes.
? Upkeep, creation, and design of digital/print publications and content.
? Schedule and execute media days and manage all photography. The Athletics Information manager is responsible for seeing that the images needed to properly market the athletics teams are captured, through both assigning others and/or serving as a photographer.
? Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with coaches and staff.
? Other projects as assigned by the Director of Communications or Director of Athletics.

Qualifications

Qualifications: ? Prior experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field required, bachelor's degree preferred. ? Practical experience at the high school, collegiate, or professional level. ? Great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well with coaches, athletes, parents, and others, as needed. ? Excellent computer skills and ability to utilize web content and social media software; knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva, and InDesign programs. ? Well-rounded knowledge of individual sports and athletics in general. ? Ability to write clearly and effectively and recognize correct grammar, punctuation, and style.
