Department Summary

Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research (DAIR) serves the University of North Texas by providing accurate and reliable data, enhanced insights via analytics, and robust reporting in support of planning, policy making, academic assessment and program reviews. The team has a wide array of experience in higher education policy and practice, quantitative and qualitative analysis, computer science, financial analysis, and business intelligence. DAIR is a fast-paced work environment with numerous projects and opportunities. Position Overview

The Business Intelligence Analyst position in Data Management is an excellent role for an individual wishing to join a team of hard working and future focused data and analytics professionals. The successful candidate will work collaboratively as a member of the Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research (DAIR) team and will interact with internal and external stakeholders to support a variety of data management, training, analysis and benchmarking initiatives at The University of North Texas (UNT). The person in this role will assist with the ongoing development and implementation of SAS Business Intelligence tools (SAS Visual Analytics, SAS Visual Statistics, SAS Business Data Network, SAS Workflow Studio, and SAS Data Management Studio) to promote data warehousing, data governance, data quality and the development and use of analytic dashboards (known collectively as the Insights Program) designed for wide distribution to the UNT community.

The primary functions of this role will be to:
? Assist the Director of Data Management with building relationships with functional and technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop documentation of data resources and institutional processes.
? Assist with training and knowledge transfer activities related to the Insights Program.
? Perform data analysis, generate analytics, and communicate results involving external benchmarking and peer comparisons.

The successful candidate will join a strong team of data modelers, analysts, and institutional researchers to provide direct support to internal and external stakeholders, manage relationships with data providers and end users, and assist with communication and collaboration to notify the user community of changes, enhancements and new analytics and data resources. Finally, the successful candidate will be tasked with monitoring security roles and permissions of individuals who are provided access to the Insights Program and provide regular audits to the Director. DAIR is focused on helping all employees expand their skills and encourage technology adoption through formal professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and five years of professional experience in a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
? Ability to analyze data, including numerical detail, identify patterns or trends, and draw valid conclusions.
? Ability to present various data in clear concise forms to a variety of audiences.
? Basic working knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, legal statutes, and analysis and reporting of financial data.

Preferred Qualifications

This 12-month position requires excellent writing, oral communication, and computer skills. The successful candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of SQL and SAS programming and will be required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with data providers and consumers. A master's degree in a related field and two years of data analysis work experience is required.

The person in this position will be required to comply with all UNT Computing, State, and Federal rules regarding data usage and confidentiality. Preferred qualifications include experience working in an institutional research setting, a working knowledge of external student tracking and peer benchmarking data resources available to higher education (e.g., the National Student Clearinghouse, National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Integrated Postsecondary Educational Data System (IPEDS), and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).

Job Duties:
? Engage data owners and subject matter experts (SMEs) in the process of defining, documenting, and maintaining business term information.
? Maintain interactions and build relationships with end users and functional areas related to information to be ingested into the SAS environment.
? Develop communication resources and materials to ensure end-user community can effectively utilize Insights Program deliverables.
? Engage in continued training, exposure, and new technical learning related to the SAS Business Intelligence/Insights environment.
? Provide training and assistance for new and returning Insights dashboard users on navigation, security, and content in the Program.
? Assist the Director with managing role provisioning and security for the Insights Program.
? Respond to all Insights emails and teams' messages within 24 hours.
? Update Insights peer benchmarking dashboards on a regular basis to maintain current analytic tools.
? Source and manage ingestion/documentation of external benchmarking data of strategic value to the institution including but not limited to IPEDS, National Student Clearinghouse and THECB.
? Adhere to all Federal, State and University rules, ethics/compliance standards, and policies.
? Perform job functions as a collaborative team member who shares expertise, individual knowledge, and skills through working closely with others to increase value to the University.
? Develop automated data management and modeling processes related to external benchmarking data.
