About the position

The Merchandise Manager (MM) at Ulta Beauty plays a pivotal role in leading the store's operations while embodying the company's mission, vision, and values. The MM is responsible for overseeing a team of Task Associates and ensuring that the store operates efficiently and effectively. This includes managing the shipment process, replenishment, omni-channel operations, price changes, and markdowns. The MM is expected to promote a culture of accountability and operational excellence, focusing on performance metrics such as sales, inventory results, and compliance with operational standards. In this role, the MM will leverage store forecasts and payroll budgets to optimize scheduling and productivity, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and within budget. Regular analysis of financial and operational reporting is essential, as the MM must react promptly to store visit and audit results. The MM will also engage with guests through makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations, enhancing the overall guest experience and driving sales. The MM is tasked with attracting, hiring, and retaining a diverse team of associates, fostering an inclusive environment that encourages growth and engagement. This includes supporting professional development through training and feedback, as well as modeling a culture of operational excellence. The MM will ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty's policies and standards, utilizing company tools to manage schedules and store workload effectively. Additionally, the MM will protect company assets by adhering to loss prevention protocols and executing inventory control processes. Overall, the MM is a key leader in driving the store's success and ensuring a positive shopping experience for guests.

Responsibilities
? Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed the store's goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni-channel, and retail shrink.

? Drive company profitability through operational excellence, top-line sales growth, and expense control.

? Leverage store forecast and payroll budgets to support with store scheduling needs and communicate the needs to the GM.

? Review, analyze, and react to Ulta Beauty's financial and operational reporting, including store visit and audit results.

? Leverage company programs, tools, and resources to drive improvements to meet Ulta Beauty's goals for the store.
,
? Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and guest service experience.
,
? Maintain prompt, regular attendance and hold store associates accountable to the Ulta Beauty attendance policy.
,
? Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent.

? Build a highly engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through effective collaboration and communication.

? Use the company's scheduling tool to adjust schedules and manage attendance during manager-on-duty shifts.

? Ensure the execution of all operational focuses including shipment, replenishment, omni-channel, price changes, and markdowns.

? Protect company assets and minimize loss by ensuring all store standards and operating procedures are met.

? Execute day-to-day inventory control processes and complete theft reporting as necessary.

? Regularly communicate and provide feedback to field leadership on business trends and opportunities.

Requirements
? High school diploma is preferred.
,
? 1-2+ years of fast-paced, retail management, or other relevant work experience.

? Success with driving top-line sales, interpreting reporting data, managing payroll budgets, and controlling expenses.

? Proven ability with monitoring inventory levels, achieving operational excellence, and executing merchandising directives.

? Experience with attracting, developing, and motivating top talent, and leading others through change.

? Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system, Microsoft Office programs, and Apple devices).

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
