Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works collaboratively to provide direct and indirect patient care in the ambulatory setting. The LPN provides nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of the physician or Registered Nurse (RN) accepts delegation to meet the needs of the patient. The LPN provides nursing care in accordance with the policies and procedures of Monument Health, standards of the profession and in accordance with the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act, and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and/or accreting agencies.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
? Ensures that the examination and treatment areas are ready for use as per clinic standards.
? Participates in pre-visit coordination to ensure effective patient care, prepares examination and treatment areas according to clinic standards.
? Administers patient rooming procedures by measuring vital signs, gathering data, and addressing other designated components pertinent to the clinic's protocols.
? Executes medication administration accurately and documents thoroughly according to clinic guidelines.
? Performs nursing tasks and treatments within the defined Scope of Responsibilities, in line with the standards set by the nursing division and clinic.
? Shows competence in accurately conducting and documenting assessments, applying clinical interventions, evaluating outcomes, and modifying the plan of care in collaboration with an RN or provider.
? Share preapproved/prearranged patient education materials. Give additional reinforcement for health education and discharge advice provided by the RN or provider, advising patients to approach the healthcare professional with questions.
? Administers independent nurse consultations as permitted by the scope of practice and department policies with the required supervision.
? Aid in inbox organization and completion of patient referrals and prior authorizations according to the approved procedures and capacity.
? Actively participates in the orientation and mentoring of clinical staff in accordance with specified guidelines.
? Demonstrates investment in departmental development by participating in meetings, committees, and continuing education/training opportunities.
? Ensures that the documentation in the patient record is precise, easily interpreted, and succinct within the designated Scope of Responsibilities.
? Other obligations may be designated for completion as part of the job.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursingCertification - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Healthcare Experience
Physical Requirements:
Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
