Description: Position Overview: The Photo Editor Assistant will play a crucial role in researching and acquiring real estate listing and editorial images, securing usage rights, and assisting with photo licensing for syndicated content. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of editorial photo sourcing, licensing best practices, and have strong communication skills. This role reports to the Senior Photo Editor and works closely with the editorial team. Key Responsibilities: Source images from stock agencies, brokerages, wire services, and other sources. Reach out to photographers, agencies, and rights holders to obtain permissions for photo usage. Secure image rights for syndicated stories, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements between multiple publications. Maintain organized records of licensing agreements, permissions, MLS agreements and restrictions, and image credits. Ensure all sourced images align with photo quality standards and editorial guidelines. Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience in photo research, licensing, or editorial photo editing. Familiarity with stock/wire image services and best practices for rights management. Excellent communication and negotiation skills when working with photographers and agencies. Ability to manage multiple photo requests under tight deadlines. Knowledge of real estate, business, or lifestyle media is a plus. Experience working with digital newsrooms or media publications. Understanding of fair use principles and social media content licensing. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or Lightroom for minor image adjustments.
