About the position

The Airport Operations Officer Trainee/I/II position at the City of Abilene is responsible for training and performing Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) duties while assisting in the overall operation of airside, landside, and terminal areas. This role ensures compliance with federal regulations and involves working various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The position is designed for entry-level candidates, with opportunities for advancement based on experience and training.

Responsibilities
? Perform Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) duties and operate emergency vehicles.

? Assist in the overall operation of airside, landside, and terminal areas.
,
? Inspect all areas of the airport to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
,
? Maintain satisfactory conditions of airport facilities by creating work orders and performing light maintenance duties.
,
? Identify and respond to hazards to aviation, including wildlife and unauthorized entries.
,
? Conduct training for AOA Driver's, Airport Security, and Authorized Signatory.
,
? Carry out responsibilities outlined in the Airport Emergency Plan (AEP).

? Monitor security systems and perform patrols as part of airport security functions.

? Maintain positive communication with passengers and tenants.

Requirements
? High school diploma or GED required.
,
? Valid Texas Class B - Exempt driver's license required within 90 days of employment.
,
? No previous experience required for Trainee level; 1 year for Officer I; 2 years for Officer II.
,
? Must obtain ARFF 80-Hour Certification within 180 days of employment.
,
? Basic Structural Fire Certificate required for Officer I and II.

Nice-to-haves
? Prior work experience in civil or military airports, airline, and/or FBO operations preferred.
