This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
This position is assigned to Actuarial Services Division of the North Carolina Department of Insurance. This position works independently to provide technical support to the Chief Actuary and the Company Services Group and assists with the actuarial reviews of Health filings. This could include, Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage, ACA, or Long-Term Care. This position assists in the review of actuarial issues related to pricing and solvency of health insurers conducting business in North Carolina.

? Considerable level of professional knowledge in Life and Health and keeps up with current developments and trends. Maintains professional credentials through meeting continuing education requirements of the American Academy of Actuaries (AAA) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA).
? Considerable knowledge of North Carolina laws and regulations as they relate to actuarial practice.
? Considerable knowledge of agency policies and practices in regard to issues arising in rate revision negotiations or rate hearings or benefit structures and rate setting for service delivery.
? Demonstrated extensive experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Access.
? Demonstrated experience working on rate filings Health insurance lines of insurance.
? Preferred knowledge of Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage, ACA, and/or Long Term Care insurance.
? Demonstrated experience with analyzing data to make actuarially sound recommendations or conclusions
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, business, or closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of professional actuarial experience and Associate status in the Society of Actuaries (SOA); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
