About the position

The Teller position at M&T Bank is a part-time role focused on enhancing the customer experience within the branch through various means, including digital engagement, lobby management, and transactional processing. The Teller is responsible for processing a variety of financial transactions accurately and efficiently, ensuring that customer needs are met in a timely manner. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, as the Teller will engage with customers directly, providing them with the necessary support and solutions during their banking experience. In this position, the Teller will adhere to established customer service standards, delivering a differentiated experience by understanding customer needs and providing appropriate solutions. This includes educating customers through digital demonstrations and identifying self-service opportunities that align with their needs. The Teller will actively manage the lobby, greeting customers and taking ownership of their immediate needs, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment. Additionally, the Teller will be responsible for accurately balancing and processing customer transactions in accordance with bank policies. This includes handling escalated account service issues, logging customer complaints, and transitioning sales opportunities to the appropriate banking partners. The role also involves completing various branch-related operational activities, such as cash ordering and processing customer maintenance requests, while adhering to compliance and operational risk controls. The Teller must exemplify qualities such as empathy, customer centricity, flexibility, adaptability, digital fluency, and critical thinking, all of which support the company's culture and brand. Staying current on operational changes and demonstrating good risk management decisions are essential to assist the branch in managing preventable losses and reducing fraudulent activity.

Responsibilities
? Adhere to established customer service standards and provide a differentiated experience by understanding customer needs and delivering solutions.

? Educate customers through digital demonstrations and identify self-service opportunities.

? Engage in lobby management, greeting customers and addressing their immediate needs.

? Accurately balance and process customer transactions following Bank Policy.

? Take ownership of escalated account services issues until resolution and log customer complaints accurately.

? Transition identified sales opportunities to appropriate banking partners.

? Complete branch-related operational activities such as cash ordering and wire transfers.

? Process customer/account maintenance accurately.
,
? Complete Consumer AML/BSA/KYC related activities.
,
? Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards.

? Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

? Maintain internal control standards and implement audit points as applicable.

? Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
? High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

? Minimum of 6 months customer service experience, including data entry and/or cash handling experience.

? Proven verbal communication skills.

? Proven interpersonal skills.

? Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills.

? Well-organized with proven time management skills.

? Proven prioritization skills.

? Proficient with internet user-level technology.
