Job Description:
As a Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring patients receive efficient, high-quality care. Your responsibilities will include preparing testing rooms, assisting with medical tests, and providing essential patient care. You will be involved in both clinical and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities: ?Prepare the testing room with the proper tools and equipment for procedures. ?Walk patients through the process of needle insertion and blood sample collection. ?Label blood samples accurately for further analysis in medical laboratories. ?Clearly explain the blood-drawing process to patients and ensure their understanding. ?Reassure and calm patients who may be nervous or anxious about the procedure. ?Apply dressings to any wound caused by blood collection. ?Ensure proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors. ?Prepare patients for medical examinations and procedures. ?Take vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, etc.) and document patient medical histories. ?Assist healthcare providers with medical tests and examinations. ?Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers. ?Schedule patient appointments and manage appointment logistics. ?Obtain blood samples, ensuring proper handling and storage. ?Perform data entry and maintain accurate patient records. ?Measure and record vital signs and document any changes or concerns.
Administrative Support Responsibilities: ?File, copy, and fax necessary documentation and patient records. ?Maintain organized records and assist with the management of patient files. ?Assist with typing and documentation for physicians as a scribe. ?Use computer systems to enter patient information and manage medical records.
Skills & Qualifications: ?Proficiency in computer systems and medical software. ?Strong research skills for retrieving relevant information. ?Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare staff. ?Ability to stay organized and manage administrative tasks efficiently. ?Compassionate and calm demeanor when interacting with patients. ?Bilingual Spanish preferred.
